"Pretty average trip overall"
The train ride itself was mostly fine, and the staff I spoke to were friendly enough. It wasn’t the most comfortable journey ever, but nothing too dramatic. The only thing that got a bit frustrating after a while was trying to find a toilet, since they were either busy or one was out of use. On a longer trip, that does start to get annoying.

Had my ticket checked on LNER today and it was really straightforward. The staff were polite and clear, even with people who had the wrong tickets, and they weren’t rude or over the top about it. They explained the fare rules in a simple way too. it all felt fair enough to me

The tickets already felt kind of expensive for what you actually get. Then my plans changed and trying to get a refund was way more annoying than I expected. It took a while, and after the fee, I barely got much back anyway. Customer service was fine I guess, but not exactly helpful. Just felt a bit unfair considering how much I paid in the First place

"Really helpful updates during a delay"
My train out of York was delayed, but LNER kept me in the loop the whole time with texts and updates in the app. The staff were saying the same thing too, so I wasn’t left standing there trying to guess what was going on. Weirdly, I remember there was a pigeon just wandering around the platform like it owned the place while everyone was waiting. Anyway, the updates made the delay a lot less stressful.

"Boarding felt much easier than usual"
I had a really smooth experience at the station with LNER. Compared with some other train journeys I’ve taken where boarding feels a bit chaotic, this was handled really well. The platform was clear, the staff kept everyone moving, and it never felt rushed or stressful. I knew where to stand and which coach to get on, which made the start of the trip so much easier. a nice change

Travelled with LNER last week the luggage space was better than I expected. I managed to get my big suitcase into the rack without any fuss, and there was still space left for other people’s bags too. I’m always a bit wary with train companies because if something goes wrong, customer service usually feels like a nightmare to deal with, so it was a relief not to need them at all. Made the journey a lot less stressful. I’d use them again...

"Food was alright, but the drinks felt pricey"
I grabbed a sandwich and a coffee onboard. The sandwich was fine, nothing too special, but it did the job. The coffee was a bit weak though, something about it just tasted kind of watered down. Prices felt a little high for what you actually get.

I had an issue with my ticket and, honestly... it felt like the staff just kept passing me from one person to another. Customer service was slow, and I never really got a clear explanation of what was going on. Not the best experience, tbh.

I paid for my train ticket expecting to get some work done, but the WiFi kept dropping every few minutes. I basically couldn’t work at all, which was kinda frustrating and made the trip a lot more annoying than it needed to be...

I booked my bike space on lner.co.uk at the same time as buying my ticket, it was straightforward. The reservation showed up clearly in the email too, so I’m not really sure what else people expect from that part.
At the station, the staff checked it, told me where to go, and I found the right coach without any drama. The bike cupboard was tight with other bikes already in there, yes, but it still worked and my bike got on the train, which is the main thing.
I’m giving it 4 stars because more bike spaces would obviously be better, and I don’t think that’s an unreasonable thing to say. But overall, the booking worked, the staff helped, and the journey was fine.

"First class? Sure, if you say so"
I paid for first class on LNER what a treat, a dirty seat, no hot food, and staff who seemed only vaguely aware passengers existed. It basically felt like standard class, just with the exciting bonus of paying more for it

"Better Than I Expected"
I was kind of expecting the usual annoying stuff, like cramped seats or a dirty carriage, but it was actually fine. The seats were comfortable, the train looked clean, and I didn’t really have anything to complain about for once.
"Got my lost bag back way faster than expected"
I left my small backpack on an LNER train and assumed it was gone for good. I filled out the lost property form on their website, not expecting much, but they got back to me the next day saying it had been found.
When I went to pick it up, the staff were really helpful and everything was still inside. Such a relief, and the whole thing was way easier than I thought it would be.

Had a really good trip with LNER, mainly because I could charge my phone and laptop right where I was sitting. The sockets worked perfectly both ways, so there was no awkward hunting around or asking anyone. it just made the whole journey feel a lot easier...

"Food options were a little hit or miss"
There were drinks available, so my brain kind of went, “Okay, food must be sorted too,” but that wasn’t really the case. On my train, there just wasn’t much to choose from food-wise. Not a huge deal, but I’d probably grab something before boarding next time.
